Augstina Flores- teacher from La Esperanza released on bond

October 13th- Last night Augstina Flores Lopez was released on bond after having spent 21 days in jail. The day that President Zelaya returned to Honduras, Augstina joined a multitude of people from her community of La Esperanza and headed to Tegucigalpa to see the President. The following morning, the police attacked the crowd with tear gas, water cannons and their long clubs. Augstina was sitting on a curb when the police came up and began beating her with their clubs in her face and on her back. They eventually arrested her and charged her with criminal destruction of property and sedition.

Three patrols from the Honduran Army raids Garifuna Hospital

We write this in order to denounce that on October 7th at 6am three army patrols broke down the doors and stormed the first Garifuna hospital in Honduras, located on the Atlantic Coast.

The Quixote Center sponsored 7th International Witness Delegation to Honduras has just issued its final report detailing coup sponsored repression and terror in response to President Zelayas return to the country on September 21, 2009. Crofton man calls attention to atrocities in Honduras

Just a few days ago, Nick Carroll was aiding poor and badly beaten residents in detention camps in Honduras, victims of the fallout from the military overthrow of its democratically elected president. The de facto military government suspended the country’s constitution and locked down the city following Zelaya’s return.

Micheletti suspends Honduran constitutional guarantees for 45 days

Everything is indicating that the coup government is moving forward in a serious way with their threats and demands to the international community and against the Honduran people in particular. Today at noon it was announced that yesterday the Official Daily La Gaceta published an executive decree, signed by Micheletti, his pseudo-ministers which suspends all Constitutional guarantees for 45 days. This decree prohibits all meetings and demonstrations without permission of the military, speak against officials or emit information different than official pronouncements.
