friendshipamericas.org/sites/default/files/Confirmed%20Signers%202.29.2012.pdfU.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky(D-IL)extended the deadline for the
“Dear Colleague” letter circulating in the House on the deadly crisis in the Aguan region of Honduras which has claimed the lives of as many as 60 peasant leaders to date.
Thanks to your efforts, 34 members of Congress have signed the letter so far. (see attached) We urgently need your help to double the number of signers by the new deadline; 12:00 noon – Wednesday, March 7, 2012.

The Honduras Accompaniment Project team just returned from an International Human Rights Conference held in the Aguan where we witnessed the terror, pain, grief and courage of peasant communities struggling for land in this heavily militarized region.

You can accompany the people of Honduras by encouraging your member of Congress to sign Rep. Schakowsky’s letter on the Aguan, calling on the U.S. to suspend aid to abusive and corrupt police and military forces.
The Congressional Switchboard number is (202) 224-3121
