Tegucigalpa.- Juan López, environmental defender from Tocoa, Colón, Municipal Councilman and member of the LIBRE party was murdered on Saturday night, September 14, 2024
The murder took place at 8:30 pm in the Fabio Ochoa neighborhood of de Tocoa.
According to reports, a person on a motor cycle waited for the Councilman and environmental defender to leave the church where he had led the service.
Juan was shot in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. The front windshield on the drivers side had at least four bullet holes.
The community of Tocoa is shocked by this crimninal act that has taken the life of a person who has struggled for justice and for the defense of human and environmental rights.
Members of the National Police arrived at the scene of the crime to carry out investigations.
López, in addition to being a member of the municipal council of Tocoa, was also a pre-candidate for Mayor for one of the movements within the Libre party.
