OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR CONDEMNS MURDER OF RADIO WORKER IN HONDURAS
Washington, D.C., April 15, 2014 – The Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) condemns the murder of radio worker Carlos Hilario Mejía Orellana which took place on April 11 in Honduras.

Three U.S. Congress members issued a statement of concern following the brutal murder of member of the Radio Progreso team in Honduras. Please send this statement to your members of Congress and ask them to register their concern with the U.S. Embassy in Honduras and the State Department.

Provisional Dismissal Dictated to Magdalena Morales
This afternoon, February 14th, the courts of El Progreso, Yoro issued a provisional dismissal in the case of Magdalena Morales, Regional Director of the National Union of Rural Workers (CNTC), accused by the transnational sugar producer AZUNOSA, a subsidiary of SABMiller (South African Brewing-Miller Brewing, headquartered in England), of land usurpation, damages, and continued profit losses.
