Tica Times article on the La Penca bombing

Tico Times recently published a series of articles to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the La Penca bombing.  The articles are written by several journalists, some of whom were actually present when the bomb exploded during a press conference given by Eden Pastora, a former Sandinista who became disenchanted and left Nicaragua to head up the southern front of the contra.

Amnesty International issues alert on José Ruelas

The Director of Casa Alianza Honduras, a children’s rights organization, was beaten and detained by military police on 8 May. He believes his mistreatment was in retaliation for speaking out against violence against children in Honduras and denouncing government inaction on the matter.  The attached Pdf document is the Alert recently issued by Amnesty International regarding the case.
