Dear friends,
It is with great pleasure that the Ecumenical Committee and Casa Ben Linder invite you all to attend this Thursday’s presentation in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the murder of Benjamin Linder, Sergio Hernandez and Pablo Rosales, by the US-backed counter-revolutionaries on April 28, 1987 in San Jose de Bocay.
Our speaker will be Joan Kruckewitt, who was a personal friend of Ben’s, ABC Radio war correspondent, and author of the book ‘The Death of Ben Linder’. She will speak about Ben’s death, about the writing of the book, and will read some excerpts reflecting not on his death, but on his love of life and his work with the peasants of that area.
She has flown back to Nicaragua specifically for his anniversary and will later travel on to Bocay to partake in the anniversary activities there. She will have on hand a few copies of her book for sale for those who are interested. For those who already have her book, I’m sure she would happily inscribe a few words in yours.
We will also have on hand copies of the bilingual photo testimony book by Paul Dix and Pam Fitzpatrick: Nicaragua: Surviving the Legacy of US Policy which documents the effects of the contra war. (Cost $35 dollars cash or a US check made out to Nicaragua Photo Testimony)
Please join us this Thursday at 8:30 am in the Ben Linder House, Barrio Monsenor Lezcano, del antiguo Banco Popular, 2 cuadras al lago, 2 cuadras arriba.
