I was just in Chicago last month for the Latin America Solidarity Conference. One of the main topics of discussion was immigrant rights. It seems appropriate then to remind people here of the incredible contributions that the people of Haiti have made in the United States – as we advocate for justice for Haitian refugees today.
The AP has a story about the recent capsizing or a boat carrying refugees from Haiti – it happened on Thursday and at least 60 people died. Survivors say that the Turks and Caicos Navel vessel rammed their boat twice before it capsized. read more
