"Peoples Agreement " from Cochabamba - on its way to Cancun

Last week, in the heart of the Andes Mountains, some 30,000 people from more than 140 countries and representatives from forty eight governments came together to work to produce concrete documents and proposals on 17 different themes related to the single most important issue of our lifetime – the climate crisis.

“United by deep concern and a shared hope, this diverse group of peoples asked the questions that have been largely absent in international meetings: What are the structural causes of climate change? If the human race is to survive, how must it re-think its relationship with Mother Earth? How can we as human beings collectively end irrational industrialization and consumption to cease provoking irreparable harm to our environment?” Evo Morales
The result of this historic effort is the “Peoples Agreement” from the World Peoples Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth. Read the “Peoples Agreement” http://pwccc.wordpress.com/2010/04/26/peoples-agreement/
Efforts are underway right now to convert the “Peoples Agreement” into negotiating positions in preparation for the next round of U.N. climate negotiations in Cancun.
